In Vivo Ecopsychology is a Maryland-based outpatient mental health practice offering remote psychotherapy supplemented by in-person "whole brain" activities: psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, ecotherapy, art, movement, and mindfulness. In-Person services are offered remotely and at in-person at locations in Silver Spring, Maryland and Cumberland, Maryland. Retreats and some workshops are held in Berkeley and Pendleton Counties, WV, with co-sponsorship from Experience Learning, Inc.
Curious about whole-brain practices (also known as 'experiential' practices) and how they can address the roots of mental illness in ways that traditional therapy cannot? Heard about the recent trends in psychiatric ketamine or psilocybin and want more information? Interested in how to track your own therapeutic process, and how to best match your needs to the hundreds of different therapeutic techniques out there? Watch the Intro '23-'24 Season Zoom Information Session: Psychedelics, Rites of Passage, and Therapy |
Ecopsychology is the study of human-nature relationships. Immersion in nature changes how your brain processes information from the "bottom up" - a different strategy than trying to think or talk your way through your symptoms. Other techniques like psychedelics, somatic interventions, and mindfulness work in a similar manner.
Individual TherapyOutpatient therapy services offered via telehealth, with an option for weekly in-person sessions in both Silver Spring, Maryland, and Cumberland, Maryland.
Therapy is based on the transtheoretical model of change, which matches the focus of therapeutic techniques to a person's particular location in the change process. Individual therapy is recommended in combination with experiential processes and classes/groups. Outpatient treatment is offered on a ten-month treatment cycle, with specific therapeutic goals designed to conclude at the end of the cycle. Symptoms, diagnoses, and issues that often respond well to this treatment modality are: life transitions, adult depression and dysphoria, treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, C-PTSD and other symptom patterns related to trauma and chronic attachment disorders (including some cases of stress-related somatic disorders such as autoimmune complications and chronic pain), grief, relationship turmoil, identity issues. Ongoing therapy is available for the full treatment cycle (October-July), or individual sessions can be added on for preparation/reintegration of psychedelic or nature immersion experiences or other retreats, or further processing following a group. In Vivo Ecopsychology works with private pay clients and also accepts many forms insurance. Contact Keely or click below for more information. |
Classes and Groups Classes and groups will be offered via Zoom between October 2023-July 2024. Topics for both psychoeducation classes (which you can attend anonymously) and process groups (in which you will actually engage in therapeutic techniques with the group's support) will generally follow the progress of the "Treatment Supported Rite of Passage" - a way to organize therapy that progresses in order through the typical stages of change.
